وَنورٍ تسمّيهِ العوامُ بجانمٍ
لِخدوجةَ مستحسنِ الشكلِ والعرفِ
And a flower the common folk call Jānam,
for Khadawja, lovely in form and fragrance.
يُريكَ اِجتماعاً مِن بياضٍ وحمرةٍ
قَدِ اِقتَسما ديباجَه الغضّ بالنصفِ
It shows you white and red mingled together,
the two having shared its tender brocade equally.
فَتَحسبهُ في خضرةِ الكمّ مسمعي
حَبيبٍ وصبٍّ في زمرّدةِ الشنفِ
So, in the green of its calyx, you take it for the two ears
of a beloved—and a bead in the emerald of an earring.
