تَبَدَّلَتَ مِن لَيلى وَدَسكَرَةٍ لَها
شُحوباً وَمالاً مُدبِراً وَعَجارِفا
You have changed from a radiant Leila to one with pallor
And declining wealth, with possessions dispersed.
وَإِيضاعَكَ العَصرَينِ تَبغي نَزيعَةً
بِها الوَسمُ فَذّاً وَحدَهُ وَمُؤالِفا
And your milking the two teats you seek a stream
Whose mark is splendor, uniqueness, and intimacy.
وَما كُنتُ ضَيّافاً وَمَن يَكُ رَبها
يُضِعها وَتَعرِفهُ الأَكارِسُ ضائِفا
I was not a guest, and one who owns her
Puts her down while the chairs recognize him as a visitor.
