مُهَفهَفُ الكَشْحِ والسِّربالُ مُنْخَرِقٌ
عَنْهُ القَمِيصُ لِسَيْرِ اللَّيْلِ مُحْتَقِرُ
Slender-flanked, with his outer garment torn,
his shirt rent away from him, he makes light of traveling by night.
لا يأمَنُ النَّاسُ مَمْساهُ ومُصْبَحَهُ
في كلِّ فجٍّ وإن لَم يَغْزُ يُنْتَظَرُ
People feel safe from him neither at evening nor at morning,
in any mountain pass; even when he does not raid, his coming is expected.
