نَحْنُ مَنَعْنا بَيْنَ أسْفَلِ ناعِتٍ

إلى وارِداتٍ بالخَمِيسِ العَرَمْرَمِ

We dwelled between the lower ravines

To gushing streams on brocaded Thursdays

بِحَيٍّ إذا قِيلَ اظْعَنُوا قد أُتِيتُمُ

أقاموا عَلى هَوْلِ الجَنانِ المُرَجَّمِ

In a neighborhood, when told "Set out!" they stood

At the awesomeness of the starred heavens

تَحَمَّلُ أولاهُمْ مِنَ الدارِ غُدْوَةً

وتُمْسي بِها أُخْراهُمُ لَمْ تُصْرَّمِ

Their first endured leaving home at dawn

And their last returned at dusk, undeterred
