بَرِئتُ إِلى الإِلَهِ مِنِ اِبنِ أَروى

وَمِن قَولِ الخَوارِجِ أَجمَعينا

Before God, I disavow Ibn Arwa,

and the creed of the Kharijites, every one;

وَمِن عُمَرٍ بَرِئتُ وَمِن عَتيقٍ

غَداةَ دُعي أَميرَ المُؤمِنينا

I disavow ʿUmar, and ʿAtiq too,

on the morning ʿAtiq was called Commander of the Faithful.
