1. صَديقُكَ حينَ تَستَغي كَثيرٌ

    وَما لَكَ عِندَ فَقرِكَ مِن صَديقِ

    When you are rich, friends for you there are many

    Yet when you are poor, there is no friend for thee

  2. فَلا تُنكِر عَلى أَحَدٍ إِذا ما

    طَوى عَنكَ الزِيارَةَ عِندَ ضيقِ

    So blame not anyone, if someday

    They stop visiting you in time of need

  3. وَكُنتُ إِذا الصَديقُ أَرادَ غَيظي

    عَلى حَنَقٍ وَأَشرَقَني بِريقي

    And I, when a friend wished to make me angry

    Stayed patient, though provoked, not wanting enmity

  4. غَفَرتُ ذُنوبَهُ وَصَفَحتُ عَنهُ

    مَخافَةَ أَن أَكونَ بِلا صَديقِ

    I forgave his sins and overlooked his wrongs

    Fearing that without him, a friend I'd never see
