أَهاجَكَ بِالعَبَوقَرَةِ الدِيارُ
نَعَم مِنا مَنازِلُها قِفارُ
The abodes were stirred by passionate love
Indeed, since we left, their dwellings are barren wastes
فَمَرخُ مُخَلِّصٍ فَمَحَنَّباتٌ
عَفَتها الرِيحُ بَعدَكِ وَالقِطارُ
So smiles of joy are now distorted frowns
And only wind and trains pass by them now you're gone
