هَذا مِثالي ان أَغِب

فهو الَّذي ابداً حَضَر

This is my likeness, should I be absent;

for it is the one forever present.

العينُ عندي وحدها

والعَينُ عندكَ والأَثر

To my mind, the very self comes after it;

and with you are the self itself—and its trace.
