تَولى نقولا من بَني عرمان في

تغرُّبهِ وَالكلُّ منّا مُغرَّبُ

Niqula of the family of Orman took to

wandering in foreign lands, while we all wander.

لوَت عاصفات البين غصن شبابهِ

فجفَّ ولكن بالدموع يُرَطَّبُ

The storms of separation dried the branch of his youth,

yet it is moistened by tears.

فجادَت غوادي السُحب تربَتهُ الَّتي

بها قَمَرٌ ارَّختُ بالتُرب مُغرِبُ

The valleys of clouds poured down his earth

in which a moon has set whose setting I lament with dust.
