I stood over it, looking reverently,
Remembering the beauty buried within.
And smiles hidden in the soil, their radiance extinguished,
Transformed into secluded pearls.
Time has passed over it, raining down white flowers
That the doves sent as eyes.
They turn to its visitors, increasing
Their remembrance and woeful longing.
My anxiety for you - if only they would dig up the soil
And recognize you for certain.
Does impermanence walk upon your youth there? And could
That beauty really turn to rot within the earth?
By Allah, I could not control my heart when
Your beauty became hostage to impermanence.
I saw grass sprouting over your grave
Feeding softly, gently on your delicate body.
It flourishes, nourished by the most noble soil
That has channeled the water of life as a fountain.
The blessed cross stands upon a land that contains
A face once shaded by loose bangs.
I stood there, the place stunning me reverently,
As though my mind had gone mad there.
And despair insisted bitterly, so I shed
Hot tears into the soil sincerely.
O daughter May God have mercy on you
For He knows best the affairs of servants.
