A bird on a branch in the garden alighted

When it sang, it invented new melodies

Making its voice ripple through people

As light ripples over water, gleaming

It brings dawn closer with innovative singing

And makes the night recede with creative singing

I borrow from the universe's joys, arranging them

Into a shape and color within it assembled

The branch in its happiness does not cease swaying

Its green leaves adore it, proliferating

And it curves toward the softness of water, reddening

    Producing ripe fruit, artificially ripening

The bird rests on it contentedly, and if

It shows submission to it, lovingly, not forced

Each is happy with what the other attained

This one with that, no loss to the intermediary

But I see the bird one day fly to a flower

    Leaving the branch stripped, grieving

The branch's blossoms wither, its vigor fades

And it remains anxious in despair

Its despair at an absent love will surely kill it

For a beloved who turned away, never to return

It embraced silence, complaining to no one

And no one saw or heard anything
