  1. أتاني رسمك يهدي إليَّ

    جمال محياكِ في العين رسما

    Your portrait came to me, offering

    The beauty of your face portrayed.

  2. فأنزلته منزلاً في الفؤاد

    وَبَرَّدتُ شوقي ضمّاً ولثما

    So I placed it in my heart,

    And cooled my yearning with an embrace and a kiss.

  3. وروحُك عندي في القلب قد

    أَمتُ لها مسكناً فيه أسمى

    For your spirit resides in my heart -

    I made it a dwelling, a sublime abode.

  4. فمذ جاء رسمك تم سروري

    وقد صرت عندي روحاً وجسما

    Thus since your portrait came, my joy was made complete,

    And you became for me both soul and body.
