If the trusted friend betrays you,

Then take comfort from the abundance of goodness that awaits

The world may turn its back on you,

Though to some you're still a rising star

So do not grieve, for life is treachery

With ways and means that are well known

Perhaps the tongue betrays the heart

And blood surging between ribs betrays

Radiance betrays the eye, light betrays

The tongue betrays speech, lips betray speech

This soul accompanies this body in deceit

    Together two days, then parts

Abandoning it as if it never lived within

So its children and loved ones deny it

Take comfort, some people are of little worth

Why do you agonize over what is lost?

You grieve for a covenant now broken

A succession of lost affection and friendship

Most of mankind's lives are lost

Wasted away, generations lost in waste

Rise above, do not reproach what is beneath you

As water and rock tower above the valley

If he is free, it is admission of his guilt

If enslaved, leave him, he flees still

What more can you expect after his disgrace?

With which he sought to rend what you have mended

This was not his first betrayal

Many precedents came before this one

I endured him for years, increasing his defiance

You cannot trust he will not repeat his trespass

Why endure him? One like me should be true

And sincere to one like you

Why do you despair when the sky is bright?

This is a beautiful autumn and gardens in bloom

Birds sing joyfully on the branches

Flowers, fruits, a grove with lofty trees

You are healthy, prestigious and comfortable

Those you love are near and approving

Know this rupture heralds that goodness

Will surely pour upon you abundantly
