Are you angry at something I said casually,

With no ill intent or suspect thought,

Just simple jest that was somehow

    Misunderstood from brief account?

For speaking of what's past pains me,

You'll never see me not in recollection.

The heart is slain by memories when they fall

Upon a place of woe within me shattered.

I love you beyond hearts and souls

That throb with love among all mankind.

So your laughing eyes did not lie to me

In them the light of sun and moon to me.

You are light and fire, gentle and kind,

Or troubled, never can they make you less sublime.

In you is a meaning, O Saad, that will

Be exempt tomorrow from harm and benefit.

Pure bliss is its food, kept safe

    From events, sustained, complete.

Why wander wretched in your love, when you

Did not stop me between roses and thorns?

Ask the nights about my sorrow, passion, cares,

My tears and sleepless vigil, lonely hours.

I fold my ribs around a desolate heart

As if it were the saddest of sad laments.

Time has worn down my body and made it

Frail and sickly, slender at the waist.

And everything is shaped by its design

So misery has become my truest form.

For your eyes I face time armed

With resolve and acceptance I've composed.

Hardship increases my knowledge of life

As learning makes me match lessons to lessons.

And ordained this system that runs its course.

My radiant beauty by voice and gaze.

Aloft on the breeze, one carved from stone.

One lives free of care and gloom

While the other stays wed to pain and gloom.

And that first, if they knew the bliss

Of breath never leaving one about to expire!

Just so my heart, O Saad, is home

To passion for you, judge me as you desire.
