لَقَد قَصرَ اللِسان فَما أَقولُ

وَقَد عظم التَعطفُ وَالجَميلُ

My tongue falls short, what can I say?

Great is your kindness and favor.

أَرى خَيري بِخَيري فاضَ يَزهو

وَسَعدي في حِماهُ لَهُ حُلولُ

I see my good through your good overflow,

and my joy finds refuge in your shadow.

همامٌ تَحتَ ظلِّ عَزيز مَصرٍ

يَفيض هُدىً تَضيءُ بِهِ العُقولُ

A resolute protector in the shade of mighty Egypt,

your wisdom pours forth, lighting up minds.

تُكَلِلُهُ السَكينة في وَقارٍ

عَلى حَركاتِهِ اللُطفِ النَحيلُ

Serenity crowns you with dignity

in your subtle, graceful movements.

وَأَقلامُ البَلاغَةِ في يَديهِ

قَواطِعُ لا تُشابِهها نُصولُ

Eloquence pens are in your hands,

swords unmatched by any blades.

إِلا يا مَن تُسِرُّ بِهِ المَعالي

وُيُشفي مِن شَمائِلِهُ العَليلُ

O you who delights with sublime traits

and whose sublime aspects heal the ailing.

عَلَوتَ مَراتِباً وَخَفَضتَ حِلماً

وَليناً هَكَذا الشَهمُ الجَليلُ

You climbed ranks and lowered a gentle,

soft disposition - such is the noble sublime.

وَلَولا لُطفكَ الهامي عَلَينا

لَقُلتُ السحر أَمرٌ مُستَحيلُ

Were it not for your divine kindness towards us

I'd say magic is impossible to attain.

سَأَرحَل تارِكاً قَلبي مُقيماً

بِربعكَ لَيسَ يَشغلَهُ رَحيلُ

I will travel leaving my heart resident

in your abode, undisturbed by travel.

وَأَينَ حَللتُ لا أَنسى جَميلاً

لِفَضلِكَ وَهُوَ في عَيني جَميلُ

Wherever I wander I'll not forget a favor

for your grace is beautiful in my eyes.

بِقيتَ تَذيبُ اَكبادَ الأَعادي

وَيَحيى مِن لَطائفكَ الخَليلُ

You melt the livers of enemies,

and the intimate lives by your subtlety.
