نَظيرُكَ مَن تَلوذُ بِهِ العِبادُ

وَأَنتَ لَكُلِ مَكرُمَةٍ عِمادُ

Your equal is one to whom the servants take refuge,

And you are the pillar of every glorious deed.

بَدَوتَ بِمَصر فَوقَ النيل نِيلاً

يَفيض عَلى المَلا مِنهُ السَدادُ

You appeared in Egypt above the Nile as another Nile,

Overflowing upon the people with goodness.

رَأَيتُكَ راغِباً بِالخَير تَسعى

فَتَسعَدُ مِن مَساعيكَ البِلادُ

I saw you seeking good, striving,

So the countries become prosperous from your efforts.

بِلادٌ بِالعَزيز لَها حَيوةٌ

وَأَنتَ بظلِهِ فيها فُؤادُ

A country with the Mighty has life,

And you are its heart in its shade.

أَقامَكَ في إِعانَتِهِ هماماً

لَهُ بِالفَضل سَبقٌ وَاِنفِرادُ

He appointed you as his helper in his support,

With virtue he preceded and was singular.

فَكُنتَ بِكَفِهِ سَيفاً صَقيلاً

بِماءِ فَرندهِ اِندَمجَ الرَشادُ

So by his hand you were a polished sword,

By the water of Firind, the right way was forged.

تَدَبر تَحتَ رايَتِهِ أُموراً

لَها بِيديك قَد تَرَكَ المَقادُ

Under his banner you managed affairs,

Which by your hands the destinations have been left.

يَراعُ الحِكمَةِ الغَراءِ أَمسى

بِكَفِكَ لا يَروّعهُ اِنتِقادُ

He regards wise counsel in the evening,

By your palm no criticism troubles him.

جِيادك في مَيادين المَعالي

سَوابق لا تُقارِبها جِيادُ

Your steeds in the battlefields of glory,

Racers none can match them.

أَرى بِحِماكَ وَجهَ السَعدِ يَزهو

وَآمالي بِرُؤيَتِهِ تشادُ

I see by your protection the face of fortune shine,

And my hopes by seeing it are strengthened.

نعم شَرَفي بِباب عُلاك يَبدو

وَسَعدي تَحتَ ظِلَكَ يُستَفادُ

Yes, my honor at your noble door appears,

And my fortune in your shade is gained.
