I thought my tongue would keep secrets
So I trusted it with my innermost thoughts
And told it to conceal my words and looks
"O my movements, before others be still"
No eye has glimpsed sight of my eye
No ear has heard my moans and cries
My passions were nurtured so discreetly
Behold this old man once a child
