نامَ وَما في المنامِ فضلُ

لِمن لهُ بالسهادِ شغلُ

The name and what is in dreams has no merit

For one whose thoughts are occupied by wakefulness

طالَ ملامُ العذولِ فيمن

ليسَ بمُسليكَ عنه عذلُ

The blame of aloofness has been prolonged for one

Whom you cannot console for it

ما لكَ صبرٌ إذا تجنَّى

ولا له إن وصلتَ وصلُ

You have no patience when he turns away

Nor does he if you were to reconcile

لو كانَ يرثي لِما يلاقي

أرضاكَ من نيلهِ الأقَلُّ

If he were to grieve for what he experiences

The least of attaining you would please him
