How you have made me weep blood and tears,
then robbed my two eyes of sleep!
O sovereign of beauty, with perfectly proportioned stature,
guarded from every gaze, a peerless wonder!
By the one whose love is the heart’s ultimate desire,
if I hope for but an hour of union, it remains beyond reach.
How often I conceal my love for fear of a talebearer,
and seek his favor, though he treats me cruelly!
