  1. Abu al-Muthanna is forever in love—

    smitten with the fare of generous hosts.

  2. An invitation from someone else delights him,

    so much that he sees it always in his dreams.

  3. Sponging has inscribed upon his face:

    “This man is bound to the cause of food.”

  4. He is no pimp; yet

    he delights in walking ahead of the boy.
