What arrow lies in the heart of what slain man—
shot by a languid glance and a kohl-darkened eye?
Enough for whoever gloats, should he see me:
every sincere adviser and close friend has grown weary of me.
Do not reproach a lover for weeping;
for in tears there is comfort for one who ails.
The water of my eyes has extinguished what was in my heart—
is there any way to suppress a sigh?
