1. أيا من قلبهُ دنفُ

    ودمعُ جفونهِ يكفُ

    O you whose heart is lovesick,

    whose eyelid drips with tears,

  2. ومن هو بالهوى والشو

    قِ والأحزانِ معترفُ

    and who, to love and ardent long—

    —ing and sorrows, confesses:

  3. لذا غنجُ محاسنِ وج

    ههِ فوقَ الذي أصفُ

    this one has coy grace; the beauties of his fa—

    —ce surpass all that I can describe.

  4. يتيهُ بهِ وحق لهُ

    عليَّ التيهُ والصلفُ

    He grows haughty over it—and has the right

    to be haughty and disdainful toward me.
