Do not blame the eye if it weeps blood for you.

What it was shown made it unlearn all that it had known.

It did not know what you are among humankind—so do not

marvel that whoever showed you to it escaped unharmed.

Ask the languor in your eyes what it intended, and what

it meant by melting me away into sickness.

If I was not in my right mind, then entrust me

to a glance—after it, I became a byword.
