    The eye weeps in pity for the body,

    and the heart, for what afflicts them both, is laden with sorrow.

    فذا وهذاك وَذا مُرتَهن

    One has afflicted another, and so each has transgressed;

    thus this one, that one, and this one stand in bondage.

    O you who are beauty itself, and from whose eye

    comes a glance that apportions nothing but trials—

    deepen my passion, and through it grow still more aloof,

    for whatever you do is beautiful.
