أنا في شغلٍ بما تَع

ذلني فيه عن العذلِ

I am so absorbed in what you re—

—proach me for that I heed no reproach.

وفُؤادي من هَوى من

لا أسميهِ على وجلِ

And my heart, from loving one—

—whom I do not name, is fearful.

فدعِ اللومَ فَما لي

في الذي أهواهُ من مثلِ

Then leave off blame, for I have no—

—equal in loving the one I love.

أملكتني رغبتي في

وصلِ من يرغبُ في وصلي

Am I possessed by my desire for—

—union with one who desires union with me?
