1. بدا فراقَ العيون إذ طَلعا

    معَمما بالجمال مُدرَعا

    The separation of the eyes began when they rose

    Covered in beauty, clad in armor

  2. تبثُّ عيناهُ من فتورهِما

    على العيونِ الفتونَ والبِدَعا

    Their languor drips

    Upon the charming, wondrous eyes

  3. ظَبيٌ بدينِ المسيح مُتصِلٌ

    فبثهُ أهلُ دينهِ وَرَعا

    A gazelle in the religion of Christ attached

    So his people instilled in him piety

  4. لو أدركَ اللاحظونَ صورتَهُ

    يوماً لقالوا المسيحُ قد رَجَعا

    If the observers had seen his image

    One day they would have said Christ has returned
