O dear one whom eyes have not made common
So he is protected from people's eyes
Saddened of heart, exhausted of body, he is passionate
As though, when confronted, how could it be otherwise?
O listlessness has made him languid with an eye
Drowsy from the glance of his sleepy eyelids
After desire and longing and ecstasy
And length of lovesickness, there is nothing left but death
