طولُ اشتِياقي أذابَني سقما

وأمطرَ العينَ عبرةً ودما

The length of my longing has melted me into illness,

And my eyes rain tears and blood.

فارقني مَن هواهُ أنحلَني

فبانَ قلبي واستَخلفَ السقما

The one I love left me weakened,

So my heart was revealed and illness took its place.

يا وَحشةَ الجسمِ للفؤادِ فلو

يعلمُ ما بي من فقدهِ رَحِما

Oh loneliness of the body for the heart, if only

It knew what loss of him did to me, it would have mercy.

يا ربِّ خُذ لي مِن الفراقِ ولا

تأخذ لقلبي مِن الذي ظَلما

Oh Lord, take from me the pain of separation, but do not

Take from my heart the one who wronged me.
