وقفَ الضميرُ عليكَ بالوَهمِ

فشغلتَ منهُ موضعَ العِلمِ

The mind lingered upon you in imagination

So you preoccupied it from the place of knowledge

ومنعتهُ مِن كيفَ أنت بما

قد جل منكَ ودق عن فهمِ

And prevented it from knowing how you are with what

Is too glorious of you and too subtle for comprehension

فإِذا اضطررتُ الفكرَ فيكَ إلى

معنىً لأشرحَ حدَّهُ باسمِ

So when thought is compelled regarding you to

A meaning, to define it with a name

لم يحظَ منكَ بغيرِ جَوهرةٍ

مَكنونةٍ خلقَت بلا جسمِ

It obtains of you nothing but a hidden essence

Created without body
