حلَّ مِن القلبِ في الصَّميمِ
محلَّ مستوطنٍ مُقيمِ
It settled in the heart's core
As though 'twere its abiding home.
حيثُ اشتكى سهمَ مقلتهِ
بالسقمِ من لحظهِ السقيمِ
There where its dart of glance complained,
Being sick, of the fevered eye,
مَن حلَّ حسناً بِدون حتى
دقّ عن الحسنِ والنسيمِ
Who can be fair, and yet not even
For fairness' sake draw nigh?
تعرفُ في صبغِ وجنتيهِ
ووجههِ نضرةٌ النعيمِ
Thou mayst discern amid his cheek's
Pure dye the light of Paradise.
