I bid farewell on Sunday night to one I shall not name
I nearly perished then, consumed with love and shame
Oh parting, you have rent my heart with sorrow’s blow
With longing’s fire, you’ve torn my soul and body so
Think not the heart, though lost its love, shall welcome any other
The soul, bereft, cannot begin with any other
O yearning that within my heart has gained such victory
To God I pour my plaint, and not to anyone shall I
