1. ما على الغضبانِ لو كانَ رَضي

    وَرثَى لي من تمادِي مَرضِي

    The angry one should not blame me if I was pleased

    And grieved for me from the progression of my illness

  2. قالَ لي لمَّا تَشكَّيتُ الهَوى

    احمدِ اللَهَ كذا كان قَضي

    He said to me when I complained of love

    Thank God, that was his decree

  3. قلت حاشا اللَه أن يقضي بذا

    بل قضاهُ صاحبُ الوجهِ الوَضِي

    I said, God forbid that He would decree this

    Rather, it was decreed by the owner of the radiant face

  4. أنتَ شرَّدتَ رُقادي ظالماً

    فاجعلِ الإنصافَ منهُ عِوَضِي

    You dispersed my tranquility unjustly

    So make fairness my compensation
