كأنَّكَ أحببتَ أن أسقَما

فأتبعتَ بالأسهمِ الأسهما

It's as if you wanted me to languish,

So you pursued me with arrows upon arrows.

وأقصدتَ قلبَ فتىً لم يَزَل

بحُبِّكَ مشتهِراً مُغرما

And you aimed at the heart of a lad who has never ceased

To be known for his passion and infatuation for you.

فعش كيفَ شئتَ وزدني هوىً

فحسبيَ من ذاكَ أن تسلما

So live as you wish and increase my love,

For it suffices me from that that you are safe.

سأبلغُ بالحُزنِ أقصى الدموعِ

وأبكيكَ بعدَ دموعٍ دَما

I will reach, with sorrow, the utmost tears,

And I will weep for you with bloody tears after tears.
