ينامُ فيحسبُني نائِما
كذاكَ الخَلِيُّ فنَم سالِما
He sleeps thinking me asleep,
Likewise does the friend sleep in peace,
أما وَهواكَ الذي هدَّني
وكنتَ بما نالَني عالما
Yet your love which led me,
And you knew what befell me,
لأنتَ الحبيبُ على بُخلهِ
وإن كنتَ معتدياً ظالما
For you’re the beloved despite your stinginess,
Though you be unjust and oppressive,
رُزقنا الضَّنى فيكَ يا غايَتي
كَما إنَّني لم أطِع لائِما
We were granted sorrow through you, my ultimate desire,
Just as I did not heed any blamer.
