لا يرى مَن يكونُ بعدِي له مث

لاً كما لم يرَ الذي كانَ قبلي

None shall see one like me come after me

As none before me was seen by those who were

كيفَ لا أحذرُ العيونَ عليهِ

وأرى الناسَ فيهِ من مثل مِثلي

How can I not be wary of eyes upon him

When I see in people a likeness of my likeness

أنا والعاذلونَ فيهِ سَواءٌ

فهم ليسَ يفرغونَ لِعَذلي

I and those who censure him are equal

For they are not done with censuring me

أيُّ شغلٍ في وجههِ لعيونٍ

وقلوبٍ من حسنهِ أيُّ شغلِ

What occupation in his face is for eyes

And hearts - from his beauty what occupation
