1. أتيتَ فؤاديَ من مأمَنه

    وحرَّكتَ ما كانَ من ساكِنه

    You came to my heart from its refuge

    And stirred what was of its calm

  2. وأظهرتَ بالدمعِ ما لم يَزَل

    مَصوناً عزيزاً على صائِنه

    And showed with tears what had always been

    Precious and guarded by its keeper

  3. أرى الجِسم ظاهرُهُ ناطقٌ

    شهيدٌ بما كانَ في باطِنه

    I see the body, its exterior speaks

    A martyr of what was in its interior

  4. يمازجهُ سقمٌ دائمٌ

    لشوقِ الفؤادِ إلى فاتِنه

    It mingles with constant sickness

    For the heart's longing for its beauty
