O sleep of my eyes, who made you halal
And took you away from the abode of grief
You used to stay, if it weren't for longing
That would have granted you rest if it could
As if you were the oath of a heart
That felt safe from the departure of my eyelids
So may God hasten, O my slumber
To free you from the captivity of prolonged passion
