You gave your sad one to his sorrows,
To his misfortunes and his estrangement,
And you let flow down the cheek of the weeping willow
The cascade of his falling tears.
You left him to the One who, if He wills,
Will destroy the very soul of man.
So sleep! Do not delight, and if you cannot sleep,
It is no fault of His.
