يا طويلَ البكاءِ مُر

تهنَ القلبِ ناحِلا

O you who prolong weeping bitterly

My heart has become feeble and wasted away

لستُ أسلو ولا أزا

لُ ذليلاً وسائِلا

I can neither be submissive nor humiliated

Pleading and begging to no avail

كم إلى كم يذوبُ وج

داً ويعصي العَواذِلا

How much more will my cheek melt away

And disobey the consolers

قد تضرَّعتُ واستكَن

تُ فما نلت طائِلا

I have implored and tried to be content

But obtained nothing beneficial
