وتَبكِي العَينُ ما يُدمى

وقلباً ذائباً سُقما

The eye sheds tears that flow

وأجفانا تَرى الدَّمعَ

على مُقلتِها خيما

Eyelids seeing tears

Camped on their lids

كأنَّ الليلَ يَحدوها

إذا نجمٌ تلا نَجما

As if the night excites them

When a star follows a star

ألا وأنالَني من لا

يُبالي الجورَ والظُّلما

Alas, he has afflicted me, one who
