يا خلي من الدنفِ

It contains regret,

قال للجفونِ أطع

تِ الهوى ولم تكفِ

He said to the eyelids, obey

Passion’s call and cease your resistance,

قد جنيت داهيةً

فاصبري أو اعترفي

Much harm have you gathered,

So be patient or make a confession,

كم بذلت ذا سقمٍ

للعيونِ والهَيَفِ

How much have you given in sickness

To the eyes and the agitation?
