ومَريضِ طَرفٍ ليسَ يَصرفُ طرفهُ
نحوَ امرئٍ إلا رماهُ بحَتفهِ
The languid gaze of one who never turns
His eyes to anyone but in disdain,
قد قلتُ إذ أبصرتُهُ مُتمايلاً
والردفُ يجذبُ خَصرهُ من خلفهِ
I said, when I beheld him swaying slow,
His hips tugged backward by the camel's train:
يا من يُسلِّمُ خَصرَهُ من ردفهِ
سلِّم فؤادَ مُحبِّهِ من طَرفهِ
"O you who yield your hips to come what may,
Yield your beloved's heart to love's sweet pain!"
