أَحِبْ يا دَيرَ مِزْمارِ
غَرِيْباً نازِحَ الدَّارِ
O monastery of chanting, I love you
A stranger displaced from home
فَقَدْ أَذْكَرْتَ أَوْطانِي
وَقَدْ هَيَّجْتَ أَوْطارِي
For you have reminded me of my homelands
And awakened my innermost thoughts
تَجافانِيَ مَنْ أَهْوَى
فَأْحشائِي عَلَى النَّارِ
Those I love shun me
And my insides burn
فَما لِيْ بَعْدَهُ أَنْسٌ
سِوَى دَمْعِي وَتذْكارِي
After them I find no comfort
Except my tears and remembrance
فَقالَ الدَّيُر كَمْ تَشْكُو
لَقَد أَحْرَقْتَ أَحْجارِي
The monastery said, how do you complain
When you have scorched my stones?
وَقَد أَبْكَيْتَنِي حُزْناً
فَعَيْنِي ماؤُهَا جَارِ
You made me sorrowful and weep
My eyes overflowing
فَقُمْ نَشْكُ إِلَى موسى
رَعاهُ اللَّهُ مِن جَارِ
Rise, and complain to Moses
Whom God protected from harm
إِلَى مَلْكٍ عَلى الأَمْلا
كِ نَهَّاءٍ وَأَمَّارِ
To the king over realms
Of decisive and skilled leadership
لَهُ فِي مَعْرَكِ الهَيْجا
ءِ بَطْشُ الأَسَدِ الضَّارِي
In the battle of struggle
He has the grip of a fierce lion
وَفِي ظُلْمَةِ خَطْبِ الدَّهْ
رِ وَجْهُ القَمَرِ السَّارِي
And in the darkness of fate
The face of the rising moon
يَقولُ النَّاسُ إِذْ يَبْدُو
تَعالَى الخَالِقُ البَارِي
When he appears people say
Exalted is the Creator
