I am stunned by the anguish of separation and estrangement from you

And the gathering of the Banu Qila whose tryst is the Final Gathering

Oh that we were from nothing that befalls us

With annihilation - no eye perceives and no vein pulsates

Far from the slanderers that they bear tales of us

Beyond the Pleiades and Sirius is our veil

Oh that an eagle would carry us both away

To its roost by the galaxy or nest

Oh the anxiety of the night journey has come after

Half the night passed and the eagle crossed

For there the Gemini though weak were as if

Gazelles before the wolf, scattered by the hooting

When the riders reined in their mounts

The land after their halt was desolate wilderness
