1. بِأَبي من زارَني مُكتَتِماً

    خائِفاً من كُلِّ شَيءٍ جَزِعا

    By the one who visited me hiding,

    Fearing everything, anxious,

  2. زائِرٌ نَمَّ عَلَيهِ حُسنُهُ

    كَيفَ يُخفي اللَيلُ بَدراً طَلعا

    A visitor whose beauty slept upon him,

    How can the night conceal a rising moon?

  3. راقَبَ الغَفلَةَ حَتّى أَمكَنَت

    وَرَعى السامِرَ حَتّى هَجَعا

    He watched for negligence until it enabled him,

    And herded the sleepless one until she slept,

  4. رَكبَ الأَهوالَ في زَورَتِهِ

    ثُمَّ ما سَلَّم حَتّى وَدَّع

    He rode dangers in his visit,

    Then did not leave until he bade farewell.
