  1. إن جاءت الروح فيها عن سوالفنا

    أو عالم قبل دنيا الناس يحويها

    If the soul comes and speaks of our conversations

    Or a world before the world of people containing it

  2. فكيف لا تذكر الأرواح سابقةً

    من عالم الذر يجلو أمر ماضيها

    Then how can the souls not remember previous ones

    From the world of particles elucidating its past

  3. هل هذه الروح منذ البدء ليس لها

    عقلٌ وفي العقل سرٌّ غير ما فيها

    Can this soul since the beginning have no

    Mind, and in the mind is a secret other than what is in it

  4. أو سالبٌ هي جاء العقلُ موجبها

    ومنهما كان إدراكٌ يذكيها

    Or is it negative, and the mind came to complement it

    And from both came awareness igniting it

  5. أو يولد الطفل فيه الروح جاهلة

    ويحدث العقل تدريجاً فيدريها

    Or is the infant born with the ignorant soul

    And the mind gradually occurs, making it realize

  6. فقل إذن علها من قبل عاقلةٌ

    وعلَّ من خلقَ النسيان ينسيها

    Say then it was before reasonable

    And the one who created forgetting makes it forget

  7. لحكمةٍ أن ترى الدنيا فتعجبها

    لأن تذكار ماضيها يؤسيها

    For a wisdom, so it sees the world and is amazed by it

    Because remembering its past would sadden it

  8. فهذه الروح من أسرار خالقها

    ورحمةً بعباد اللَه يخفيها

    So this is the soul of the mysteries of its Creator

    And a mercy to God's servants hiding it

  9. لو تذكر الروح ما فقدته من متع

    ما أصبحت متعاتُ الأرض ترضيها

    If the soul remembered what it lost of pleasures

    The pleasures of earth would not satisfy it

  10. فلنترك البحث في الأرواح ناحيةً

    سيخبرُ الموتُ بالأسرار يبديها

    So let's leave off searching into souls inclined

    Death will inform of the secrets disclosing them

  11. كم ي الطبيعة أسرارٌ وتكشفها

    أيامنا والليالي في تواليها

    How many secrets are in nature, days

    And nights reveal in their succession

  12. ما كان يعلمها آباؤنا فمضوا

    لا يعرفون كثيراً من نواحيها

    What our forefathers knew then passed

    Not knowing much of its aspects

  13. إنا على الأرض لا ندري بواطنها

    وما تجن ونحيا في حفافيها

    We on earth do not know its essence

    And we live on its edges

  14. فكيف كنه سماء لا نطول لها

    وكيف كنه نجوم من دراريها

    So how can we fathom a heaven we do not reach

    And how can we fathom stars from its abundance

  15. من ذا الذي علم الفروجَ من صغرٍ

    أن ينقر الحب أو أعطاهُ توجيها

    Who is it that taught the chicks from young

    To peck for food or gave it direction

  16. من للفراريج رفع الرأس علمها

    هل كان إلا برفع الرأس يسقيها

    Who taught the fledglings to raise their heads, did it

    Save for raising the head to water them

  17. من علم النحل بنياناً وهندسةً

    والنملَ جمع غذاء الفصل يحميها

    Who taught the bees building and geometry

    And ants to store food of the season protecting it

  18. من شقق الأرض عن نبتٍ وعن زهرٍ

    وأنزل الغيث بالمقدار يرويها

    Who split the earth about vegetation and flowers

    And sent down rain in measure watering it

  19. من يرزق الطير في الأجواء سابحةً

    من يكفلُ البهم رزقاً في صحاريها

    Who provides for birds gliding the skies

    Who guarantees beasts provision in its deserts

  20. من ذا الذي جعل الإنسان في حلم

    يسمعُ الطيفَ بالأخبار يرويها

    Who is it that put man in a dream

    Hearing news by inspiration narrating it

  21. ومن ومن تولتنا فضائله

    سبحانه ليس هذا القول يحصيها

    And who and who has given us merits

    Glory to Him, these words do not enumerate them
