1. Tell the people, O namesake of Iskandar,

    O mistress of reason and intelligence:

  2. Will the face of Al-Anis, after being veiled,

    be unveiled in the world of letters,

  3. so that we may see in it every fresh inquiry

    placing justice in the ranks of women?

  4. Indeed, fair women have a claim upon us

    that is hidden only from the ignorant.

  5. Then gather their army around you, if they wish

    to pursue rights around a banner.

  6. And send forth, from the radiance of your thought, among the people

    an envoy whose judgments are sound.

  7. And open the door to every inquiry with gentleness;

    gentleness alone is the fair woman's armament.

  8. If women, through you, contend with men,

    they counter them with a clear, bright argument.

  9. Indeed, women of merit in every age have

    an influence on the minds of men of merit.
