O abode of the gazelle, it has become clear to me
O dweller of the gazelle, truly with me it was made evident
today that I have stormed a lion's den within you.
The day I entered your abode as prey
I am troubled by the eyes I see in you,
I was captivated by your eyes that make the darkness desire them as eyes
whose blackness has come to entice other eyes,
And ribs that came to you bare
and by ribs that came to you empty,
Then returned filled with love and passion
then returned full of passion and sorrows.
What does your gazelle seek from me
What does your gazelle want me
After I became her servant, that I become
to be, after I have become his slave?
Whenever I say my heart has reached its prime
Whenever I say, 'My heart has recovered,'
Remembrance overwhelms it and it becomes insane
memory assails it, and it goes utterly mad.
