By God, O breeze of the east, make your way
By Allah, O passing breeze of the morn
to Alexandra’s home in Egypt, on my behalf.
To Egypt bear for me the plea I send
And greet her among the oryx, if she appears
And give her greetings if she should appear
amid her herd, coming and going.
Amidst her throng with face to thee or averted
And mention to her what lies between us; perhaps she,
Remind her of what was between us that perchance
O fragrant-breathed breeze, will remember it.
My sweet scented one, she may remember me
