O Abbas, scion of noble virtues and eminence,
Abbas, O branch of generosity and nobleness
And the finest of those who rose high in their father's shade.
And the best of those in the shade of his father's protection
You were away from these lands and came to them;
You were absent from this land and came to it
So you were a bracelet when they were a wrist.
So you were a bracelet when they were a wrist
And you returned to Alexandria triumphant,
And you returned to Alexandria victorious
And you found her to be a mouth, and so were her smile.
And found it a gap so you smiled
And you, Ali, exalted in rank, returned honored,
And you are to me of great worth, refused condolences
Like the return of sweet water arriving amid thirst.
The return of May water has healed a wound
So may you both ever remain two full moons in radiance and eminence,
So you both continue as two full moons, light and glory
Adorning your father's realm for all time.
Adorning, throughout the ages, the kingdom of your father
